Hello, I am Nobuhiro Ariyoshi, a board-certified internist and obesity treatment specialist in the United States.

I was born and raised in Japan. After graduating from Kumamoto University School of Medicine, I worked for about eight years as an internist at Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital, Tokyo Bay Urayasu Medical Center, and Nerima Hikarigaoka Hospital, treating chronic and lifestyle-related diseases. During that time, I deeply realized the importance of preventive medicine. I particularly recognized that obesity—despite being the root of many diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular conditions—is often not treated adequately.

With a desire to gain advanced knowledge and an international perspective, I moved to the United States in 2014. I completed my internal medicine residency at the University of Hawaii and obtained board certification in internal medicine in 2017. Since then, I have been working as an internist and hospitalist at The Queen’s Medical Center, dedicating myself to patient care every day.

In my personal life, I value time with my family above all else. Watching my children grow alongside my wife, I have learned that every small step contributes to significant achievements. My wife’s unwavering support is an invaluable source of motivation. I have been passionate about the violin since childhood and devoted myself to soccer during my university years, but now I am enthusiastic about golf. Although golf appears calm, it tests concentration and perseverance, and the commitment required for each shot parallels my approach to medicine. The opportunity to refresh in nature is a precious break amid busy days, and the fresh perspectives gained from golf fuel my drive to provide better treatment experiences for my patients.

Why I Pursued Becoming an Obesity Treatment Specialist

As an internist treating a wide range of patients, I came to realize that conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia—often caused or significantly influenced by obesity—are extremely common. I became convinced that truly addressing obesity, the root cause of lifestyle-related diseases, is key to ensuring patients’ future health. Thus, I resolved to deeply study the latest research and evidence-based treatment methods by obtaining certification as an obesity treatment specialist. From a preventive medicine perspective, I firmly believe that addressing obesity now is a critical step in safeguarding our patients’ futures.

In 2024, I obtained my certification as an obesity treatment specialist and, leveraging my experience, founded Aloha Weight & Wellness in 2025, where I now serve as CEO.

At Aloha Weight & Wellness, we focus on evidence-based obesity treatment and provide bespoke treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals and lifestyle. We value dialogue with our patients and strive for measurable health improvements through consistent, small steps.

We are fully committed to supporting your journey as an investment in your future health. Please feel free to reach out with any concerns or questions, no matter how minor. Let’s take the first step together toward the ideal future you envision.
